The Indian Coast Guard has intensified the search operation for three fishermen who went missing after their fishing boat failed to return to shore as scheduled. Ravi According to Cuddalore Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, the fishermen, Ramesh and Manohar from Chinnur Shanmuga Nagar, and Nagavel, from neighbouring Puducherry, had gone out to sea on June 3, 2026, in a fishing boat, belonging to Veeravel of Indira Nagar in Bhuavangiri block in Cuddalore district.
The three fishermen were expected to return by June 4 evening but did not return back. The Fisheries Department were informed of the delay following which local fishermen from Cuddalore were granted permission to search for the missing crew. But they returned without finding any trace, he said.
Based on a request from the Cuddalore district administration, the Coast Guard has deployed two vessels and a helicopter to the area to look for
the fishermen. Official sources said no information about the missing fishermen has been received so far and the Coast Guard has intensified its search.
