The victim, Anshul Kuncha, had been living in the US for nearly four years. After completing his B.Tech in Hyderabad, he moved to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree. Following his studies, he secured a job with KWC Company and also worked part-time as a pizza delivery executive on weekends to supplement his income.

When he arrived at the spot, an unidentified gunman allegedly opened fire, shooting him multiple times in the head before fleeing. The motive behind the killing remains unclear. Family members said that none of Anshul’s belongings were taken during the attack, raising questions about the motive behind the attack. They also cited reports suggesting that two masked individuals carrying backpacks were seen near the scene around the time of the shooting. Family alleges planned attack Anshul’s sister, Tanvi, alleged that the pizza delivery order was a deliberate trap. According to the report, she claimed that the location was used as a decoy to lure her brother. She said that there was no legitimate customer waiting for the delivery, leading the family to believe that the attackers intended to target him.
Tanvi said that the family has no specific suspicions about who may be responsible but wants authorities to identify and punish those involved. She also appealed for the early repatriation of her brother’s body so that the family can perform his last rites without delay, the report said. The family revealed that Anshul had previously been the victim of a robbery in the US, during which his chain, phone and cash were stolen. However, they said he had never faced a life-threatening attack before. Consulate extends assistance The Consulate General of India in New York acknowledged the incident and expressed condolences to the family. In a statement posted on X, the Consulate said it was in touch with local authorities and Anshul’s relatives and was extending all possible assistance.
