A newly built road overbridge at a railway crossing in Buxar, Bihar, has been closed to traffic after developing structural damage just ninety-six hours after its inauguration. Built at a cost of twenty-six point four crore rupees, the bridge was completed after local residents waited nearly eleven years.
A section near one of the pillars sank, raising safety concerns and leading to allegations of corruption and substandard construction materials. Authorities halted traffic movement, and officials stated that a concrete flap of an expansion joint sank, which will require ten days to repair. The incident has intensified concerns over public infrastructure quality and oversight in the state.
