He was undergoing treatment after his health deteriorated and was placed on ventilator support. Salim Kumar won the Award for Best Actor in the year 2010 for his performance in the film Aadame Ente Moghanakku.
Known for his cult-favourite comedy dialogues and his popularity in Malayali meme culture, the actor was also a vocal supporter of the Congress party and actively campaigned for the UDF in the recent assembly elections.
