In an exclusive interaction with CNN-News18, Kalyan said, 'I don't have any interest in contesting polls from Telangana. I am expanding for the aspirations of my cadre, they have my complete support.' Pawan Kalyan Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday said his decision to expand the party in Telangana was driven by the aspirations of its cadre rather than any personal political ambition in the state. In an exclusive interaction with CNN-News18, Kalyan said, "I don't have any interest in contesting polls from Telangana. I am expanding for the aspirations of my cadre, they have my complete support." He also accused the ruling Congress of pursuing divisive politics in the state.
Emphasising the party's roots in Telangana, Kalyan said his political journey began in the state and that he had built a committed cadre base there over the years. "My political journey started in Telangana. I built a cadre here and my cadre wants to expand," he said. The Jana Sena president argued that regional parties often lose sight of national priorities and said his party sought to balance regional aspirations with a broader national outlook. He presented the Telangana expansion as a natural progression of the party's growth rather than a move centred on electoral calculations. On being asked if Jana Sena could eventually contest against the BJP in the state, Kalyan said, "I would like to clear that I don't want to disrupt the voting pattern in Telangana.
Most of the times, I gave enough space to BJP but independently Jana Sena should get its recognition. I don't know how it evolves in Telangana, it depends on the state leadership," he said. On PM Modi Kalyan lavished praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a charismatic leader who has forged a connection with people across the country and remained consistent in his vision for India. Speaking about Modi's recent visit to his residence, Kalyan said he had long admired the Prime Minister's leadership and recalled first meeting him when Modi was serving as the chief minister of Gujarat.
Referring to his interactions with Modi, Kalyan said their discussions were centred on issues of national development and nation-building. "I truly admire PM modi as a leader. He is that one charismatic leader who has made connections with each and every household in India, I think he resonates with everyone in India," he stated.
