The performance of students from rural areas was below par, as only 79 students are in top 1,000 ranks and 499 in the top 5,000 ranks. As many as 1,292 are in the top 10,000 ranks. The performance of Kannada-medium students too is poor, with only nine in the top 1,000 ranks and 75 in the top 5,000 ranks.
