China has issued an alert to Nepal regarding a possible breach of a glacial lake formed on the Lende River due to dark water flagging and rising water levels. Satellite and drone monitoring revealed that approximately 25 lakh cubic metres of water has accumulated, creating potential flow risks along the river confluence. The warning comes as Nepal continues search and rescue operations following severe flooding, with the death toll climbing towards 600 and over 1,000 people reported missing.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed that India is prioritizing assistance for Nepal, providing offers of medical teams, Bailey bridges, tunneling experts, and NDRF support. Two relief supply planes have already reached Nepal, with a third scheduled for dispatch. Jaishankar also confirmed that over 400 Indian nationals currently on the Chinese side are safe and that the Ministry of External Affairs is coordinating with local authorities for their evacuation.
