In a statement posted on social media, the IDF said the vehicle was travelling through an active combat zone near the village of Tebnit that had previously been evacuated.
According to the military, intelligence assessments indicated that Hezbollah was directing fire toward Israeli soldiers from the area and continuing operations there. Following the strike, an initial investigation reportedly found that two officers and one soldier from the Lebanese Army were inside the vehicle. The Israeli military said the incident is currently under review. The IDF stressed that the area remains an active combat zone and said movement within it requires prior coordination with Israeli forces. It also reiterated that its operations are directed against Hezbollah and not the Lebanese Army. The incident comes amid continued tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have intensified in recent months.
