With the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, having forecast rain due to convective activity till Tuesday, many places in and around the city witnessed light to moderate rain on Sunday evening.

According to data from the Meteorological Office, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, which was a hot and partly cloudy day, Anna Nagar West recorded 48.3 mm of rain, Kasimedu 42.4 mm, Valasaravakkam 41.4 mm, Okkiam Thoraipakkam 39.6 mm, Chennai Central 28.2 mm, Madipakkam 32.1 mm and Alandur 27.2 mm of rain.

Many places like Meenambakkam, Thoraipakkam, T. Nagar, Tambaram and Chintadripet witnessed intermittent showers with long spells of drizzling. Many streets had water running. Roads like
