Seven people were killed and more than 10 others injured when a pick-up vehicle collided with a truck on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road on Saturday, police said. The accident took place near Jangawala Mor, where a pick-up vehicle carrying around 25 passengers crashed into a truck. The passengers were travelling from Jalalabad to Beas in Amritsar, according to police. The injured were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur. The impact of the crash, which occurred around 4 pm on Friday, was so severe that three of the five riders lost their lives. According to Jamuna Par Station House Officer Videsh Tyagi, two persons were riding one motorcycle, while three were travelling on the other when the collision took place.
Both riders of the first motorcycle and one rider of the second motorcycle died as a result of the crash. As per a report by PTI, police identified the deceased as Gopi (18), a resident of Ajai Nagar, and Chotu (18), a resident of Gopalpur. Both were declared brought dead at the district hospital in Mathura. The third victim, Saurabh (20), a resident of Gokul under Mahavan police station limits, was riding the second motorcycle. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police sources said. The two other occupants of the second motorcycle, identified as Piyush (20) and Udal (22), sustained injuries in the collision. Hospital sources stated that their condition is stable. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. An investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is under way, officials added.
