In a major breakthrough in the Bhangar bomb blast investigation, the Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested former Trinamool Congress MLA Shaukat Mulla.
The arrest came late Friday night after an extensive manhunt and surveillance operation conducted by the federal agency.
The case relates to a crude bomb explosion that took place on March 19 in Dakshin Mamudpur village of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.
The blast killed one person and seriously injured three others who were allegedly involved in manufacturing crude bombs ahead of elections.
According to NIA officials, Shaukat Mulla had been evading investigators after multiple raids were conducted at locations linked to him across South and North 24 Parganas.
