A 40 crore rupees road constructed under the Smart City project in Indore collapsed during a routine water pipeline pressure test at the Gorakund intersection. Built between Bara Ganpati and Krishnapura Chhatri, a section of the road gave way as water burst through the surface during testing.
Following the collapse, Indore Municipal Corporation MIC member Rajendra Rathore raised serious quality concerns regarding several smart city projects. Rathore has written to the Prime Minister's Office as well as senior state and central ministers, demanding a high-level probe into the incident.
