Hours later, she walked into a police station and confessed to the crime. The accused, identified as Neelam Kushwaha, had been living at her maternal home for the past four years.
According to police, her husband, Deendayal Kushwaha, arrived there on June 1 in an intoxicated condition, according to NDTV. Neelam alleged that Deendayal forced his way into the house and hung their son upside down, leaving her fearing for the child’s safety. In response, she picked up a stick lying nearby and struck him. Police said Deendayal collapsed onto a cot after the first blow. Neelam allegedly continued hitting him, causing severe injuries that proved fatal, reported the outlet. Following the incident, she remained seated beside her husband’s body for nearly eight hours. Later, she visited a nearby temple, where she spent a few minutes in prayer before heading to the Civil Lines police station.
At around 8 PM, Neelam reportedly informed the Station House Officer that she had killed her husband. Acting on her statement, police reached the house and found Deendayal’s body lying on a cot. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police said they are investigating the allegations of harassment and assault and are examining all aspects of the case.
