According to a report by NDTV, the duo stole the expensive sanitary ware worth Rs 6.5 lakh but later sold it to a local dealer in exchange for Rs 20,000.
How The Incident Unfolded The incident came to the surface after Rahul Jaychand Batra, owner of the warehouse named ‘Rahul Ceramics Private Limited’, filed a complaint with the police. According to the NDTV report, citing the complaint, on the intervening night of May 27 and May 28, unidentified thieves removed tin sheets from the roof of the warehouse and entered inside. They stole luxury taps and other products worth Rs 6.5 lakh. The stolen items included — Five taps with gold-tone designs worth Rs 3,94,500, three standard gold-colored taps worth Rs 67,000, nine rose gold-colored taps worth Rs 1,30,500, and four silver-colored taps with a value of Rs 58,000, NDTV reported.
A special team of investigators launched probe into the incident and analysed footage from 20-35 CCTV cameras installed at the warehouse and surrounding areas. They also spoke to locals, seeking insights into the case. Eventually, the investigators laid a trap and detained the suspects. Upon interrogation, the boys confessed to the crime and revealed that they wanted to buy iPhones for their girlfriends, as per the NDTV report. The accused told the police that they were in dire need of money, and therefore, they committed the crime. Subsequently, the police also apprehended 38-year-old Irfan Ali alias Immu Ramzan Ali, who had purchased the stolen goods. A further investigation into the matter is underway.
