(BJP/X) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the nation placed its trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its development initiatives, and hailed the party’s massive mandate in the recent elections in Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. The Prime Minister laid a particular emphasis on the BJP’s victory in West Bengal, saying it was a point of discussion during his recent tour of five countries in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. “Our government is working with the country’s development as its top priority; that is why the nation places its trust in the BJP and its development initiatives, and why the people repeatedly give the BJP a mandate," he said during an event in Surat.

Everyone was discussing Bengal. The BJP and the NDA have received a massive mandate in the elections held in Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry." This came after PM Modi undertook a major diplomatic tour in the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, where he signed pacts on energy, defence and critical minerals. Several world leaders had congratulated PM Modi for BJP’s historic victory in West Bengal, where it ousted Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) 15-year reign by securing 207 seats out of the state’s total 294.
US President Donald Trump was the first one to congratulate Modi for a “historic, decisive" victory. Norwegian diplomat Erik Solheim also praised the BJP’s massive victory in West Bengal and Assam polls during PM Modi’s visit to Norway, saying that it was time “the West appreciates Indian democracy". He also criticised sections of Western media for portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a threat to democracy and describing his policies as “Hindu extremism". “Indian is not only the world’s largest democracy in size – its also one of the most solid in content because its not a western transplant but rooted in Indian traditions and history," he added.
