State-run Oil India Ltd (OIL) has reported another natural gas discovery in the Andaman offshore basin, strengthening expectations that the region could emerge as one of India’s most promising new hydrocarbon frontiers.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that natural gas has been encountered in the Sri Vijaya Puram-3 exploratory well in the Andaman Sea.
The well is located around 15 km off the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 900 feet.
