The Hindu photographers win top honours in district photography competition

The Hindu senior special news photographer K.V.S. Giri and senior news photographer G.N. Rao have won first prizes in the NTR district-level photography competition organised by the district administration as part of the World Photography Day celebrations. Giri won the first prize in Category 3 – Best News Picture, while Mr. Rao secured first place in Category 2 – Youth, P4, Economic Development and Welfare.
District Collector G. Lakshmisha released the list of winners on Friday. The competition was organised ahead of World Photography Day, observed on August 19, to encourage photographers and provide them a platform to showcase their skills and creativity. Lakshmisha said that the district administration had been conducting photography competitions every year to encourage photographers and help them hone their skills.
He said: “The photographs submitted by participants for the NTR district-level competition were thought-provoking and conveyed artistic and socially relevant messages.” The Collector congratulated the winners and said the prizes would be presented at the World Photography Day celebrations on August 19, 2026. The winners would be honoured with cash prizes, certificates of appreciation and mementos. The Collector thanked the jury members — CHVSV Bhaskara Rao, T.
Srinivasa Reddy, K. Ravikumar, S. Ramarao, T. Nageswara Rao and Dr. Raziya Shabeena, for selecting the winners in a transparent manner. District Revenue Officer M. Lakshmi Narasimham, Vijayawada RDO Vennela Sreenu, jury members, Divisional PRO K. Ravi and others were present.
