On the fifth day of the ongoing relay hunger strike, members of the Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA) staged a protest rally from the Government General Hospital (GGH) to the Collector’s Office in Ongole on Friday (August 14, 2026), demanding that the State government increase their stipend.
APJUDA vice-president Dr. G. Bhargava Sai Naidu said that the non-emergency services were completely withdrawn for the entire day. However, all emergency services will be continued without interruption, ensuring that patient care is not affected, he added.
“Surplus interns, postgraduates, and senior residents who are posted suddenly to emergency services will maintain emergency services on a rotational basis. Until our legitimate demands
are fulfilled, the relay hunger strike will continue,” he added.
