15 lakh saplings to be planted in Bengaluru to mark Kempe Gowda Jayanti

• Shivakumar has announced that a programme to plant 15 lakh saplings would be launched in the city on June 27 to mark the birth anniversary of Bengaluru founder Kempe Gowda.
• Speaking to mediapersons after planting a sapling on the premises of the Vidhana Soudha on June 5 to mark World Environment Day, Mr. Shivakumar said the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) would implement the programme.
• Highlighting the importance of increasing the green cover, he said every one should try to plant at least one sapling a year.
• He said Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who was in Bengaluru on Friday (June 5), too had planted a sapling on the Kempe Gowda International Airport premises.
