A joint team of Ministers will visit Aralam Farm in Kannur next month to assess the ongoing measures aimed at reducing human-wildlife conflicts. The team will have Forest Minister Shibu Baby John, Electricity and Environment Minister and local MLA Sunny Joseph, SC/ST and Backward Classes Development Minister K.A. Thulasi, and Public Works Minister P.K. Basheer.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the Forest Minister in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The meeting directed that the construction of the elephant-proof wall at Aralam Farm, which is being monitored by the Kerala High Court, should be completed by December.
The meeting reviewed the progress of undergrowth clearing and vista clearance. It was also decided that the rehabilitation programme at Aralam Farm should be completed
within a stipulated timeframe.
