Government Moyan Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Palakkad, launched the Vidya scholarship scheme on Thursday to support students from economically weaker families. The scheme was instituted by Balakrishnan Mahadevan, a post-doctoral fellow at IIM Bangalore.
It provides scholarships to deserving students to support their education. Subscriptions to The Hindu Teen Digest were also given to students as part of the scheme. Satyanarayanan T., Principal in-charge, presided over the function.
Teachers spoke about the importance of educational support programmes and their impact on students. Biju T., senior English teacher, proposed a vote of thanks. The
scheme was started a few years ago and has since supported dozens of students in continuing their studies.
