Robert Malley, U.S. Special Envoy for Iran, now President Emeritus and Program Director for the Middle East and North Africa of the International Crisis Group, says that the situation with the Strait of Hormuz could be indefinite or even permanent. Malley criticizes the inconsistent US objectives in the region, noting a progression from regime change to nuclear and missile program containment, then to control over the Strait of Hormuz, and now seemingly aiming to keep it closed.
