Karnataka has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the ongoing Kaveri water dispute with Tamil Nadu. The state government challenged the Cauvery Water Management Authority directive to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu, describing the decision as unilateral and erroneous. Citing an El Niño year and severe monsoon rainfall deficit, Karnataka argued that current reservoir storage makes water release impossible.
Meanwhile, political parties across Tamil Nadu remain united in demanding their designated share of water for farmers in the Delta region, accusing Karnataka of violating orders. Both states continue to grapple with severe water shortages due to deficient rainfall.
