The 13-day monsoon session of parliament concluded with significant disruptions and low productivity, resulting in a loss of over 200 crore rupees. Out of the allotted 96 hours, the lower house functioned for 17.5 hours, recording a productivity rate of 19 percent, while the upper house worked for 37.4 hours with 39 percent productivity. Each sitting of parliament costs approximately 1.5 crore rupees per hour, leading to 117.75 crore rupees lost in the lower house and 87.9 crore rupees lost in the upper house due to wasted hours.
Throughout the session, proceedings were repeatedly interrupted by sloganeering, protests, and adjournments over various issues, including demands regarding police action during demonstrations. Out of 12 bills passed during the session, only one was discussed before both houses were adjourned sine die following the rendition of the national song. Political parties engaged in a blame game over the legislative washout.
