There should be limits on the use of loudspeakers after 10 p.m. Overall, attention should be paid to ensuring that no untoward incidents occur,” he said. “Officers of all departments have already joined hands with the district administration for the success of the Utsav. All preparations will be completed well before Ganesh Chaturthi. L&T, the company that manages water supply in the city, has been directed to close potholes on the main roads and complete all pending works quickly. I will inspect the sites, along with the Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner, and ensure compliance,” he said.
Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase urged the Mandals to work in coordination with the police. During such festivals, Belagavi receives a large number of visitors, and the city’s population rises to around 14 lakh. However, there are only around 1,540 police officers, including traffic personnel. “They are burdened with several responsibilities, including security duties. Cooperation with the police will be appreciated,” he said. Regular police patrols, along with stationary teams, will be deployed at sensitive locations across the city, he added. Belagavi City Corporation Deputy Mayor Hanumant Kongali said priority would be given to closing potholes, repairing roads, and cleaning the city and water bodies. He assured that financial assistance would be provided to Ganesh Mandals for paying electricity bills and other facilities.
BCC Commissioner Karthik M. said that, in addition to giving priority to all preparations for the 11-day Ganesh festival, cranes, technicians and diving experts would be deployed near immersion points during idol immersion. Ganapati Utsav Mahamandal president Vikas Kalaghatagi, vice-president Sagar Patil and other office-bearers offered suggestions and submitted petitions.
