Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked at a gurdwara in Nanded, Maharashtra, in a shocking security incident that has triggered fresh questions over the protection provided to the senior Punjab politician.
The attacker, identified in reports as a man dressed in Nihang attire, was detained after allegedly approaching Badal with a sharp-edged weapon. Badal suffered a minor injury to his hand and was reported to be stable, while a security personnel was also injured during the intervention.
The incident is particularly significant because Badal has Z-plus security cover and had already survived an attack at the Golden Temple in Amritsar in 2024.
