The student agitation in Jharkhand over alleged examination irregularities has entered its 20th day without any resolution. The protest, led by Devendra Mahato who is on a hunger strike, has intensified following police lathi charge and water cannon deployment during the August 10 Assembly march in Ranchi. In response to students threatening to siege Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence, security around the premises has been heavily fortified with barricades, drones, and additional personnel.
Protesting students are demanding the cancellation of the CGL examination and a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities. The political confrontation has escalated as the BJP backed the students, with former Chief Minister Raghubar Das threatening a hunger strike if a CBI probe is not recommended. Meanwhile, police registered FIRs against 100 named and 500 unidentified individuals in connection with the Assembly march, while deadlock between the state government and protesting students persists.
