Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal survived an attack by a Nihang Sikh within a gurdwara premises in Nanded, Maharashtra. The Akali Dal has alleged a deep-rooted conspiracy, claiming the assault was deliberate and pointing out that a similar attack occurred in Amritsar in 2024.
SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia blamed both the Punjab and Maharashtra governments for security handling failures, raising questions about protection protocols during personal visits to religious sites. A policeman sustained minor injuries during the incident, and an inquiry has been ordered into the security lapse.
