In an exclusive interaction on India Today, Sanjay Jaiswal, BJP Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha, addressed the ongoing disruptions and parliamentary washout during the monsoon session. Responding to opposition criticisms led by Rahul Gandhi, Jaiswal accused the Congress party of constantly changing its goalposts to prevent key legislative work from being carried out. He asserted that the government has consistently been ready to debate any issue raised by the opposition, but claimed, "Rahul Gandhi wants that the parliament should function on the whims and fancy of him." Jaiswal emphasized that the primary duty of Parliament is formulating laws, alleging that the opposition's primary motive was to stall the passage of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) bill.
Addressing questions regarding discussions on state police orders, Jaiswal noted that law and order is a state subject, arguing that parliamentary rules were not applied selectively.
