A case of alleged disappearance of jewellery and valuables worth over 50 lakh rupees from a State Bank of India locker has emerged in Kanpur, raising serious concerns regarding bank security and record management. Complainant Rashmi Arora had opened the locker in 2003, but after her husband's death, she moved to Lucknow and did not access it for over two decades.
Upon returning to access the locker, bank records were initially reported missing due to a past merger. Once granted access, she discovered all her valuables missing. Following her complaint, Kanpur Police registered an FIR against the local branch manager and several SBI officials. Preliminary investigation suggests the locker was accessed multiple times.
