The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a strong statement following reports of fresh border tensions between India and China in Arunachal Pradesh. Stressing that border area matters are treated with the highest seriousness, India reiterated that maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is paramount. India firmly rejected Beijing's criticism regarding the formal naming of 27 geographical features and places in Arunachal Pradesh with standard Indian names, emphasizing that Arunachal Pradesh remains an inalienable and integral part of India.
High-level discussions were held between External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh regarding LAC developments. Analysts highlighted China's history of creating border face-offs ahead of major bilateral visits, such as the upcoming BRICS Summit. Defense experts noted that while the western sector has stabilized following recent agreements, the eastern sector remains sensitive, requiring constant observation. India maintains that peace along the entire 3,488-kilometer border and mutual respect remain essential prerequisites for improving overall ties.
