In an interview with India Today, Congress MP and media head Pawan Khera addressed the ongoing parliamentary deadlock, rejecting Union Home Minister Amit Shah's offer for a debate, stating, "That ship has sailed." Khera criticized the government for ignoring the joint opposition's demands for 21 days while seeking accountability over pellet gun violence and financial irregularities. He demanded Amit Shah's resignation, asserting that the Home Minister was either complicit in ordering the pellet gun firing or incompetent for being unaware of it.
Khera rejected Shah's sudden availability for a parliamentary debate as an act of arrogance, asserting that Parliament cannot function on the government's terms alone. He highlighted that over 60 percent of the country is represented by the united opposition, whose voices cannot be dismissed. Additionally, Khera dismissed rumors that opposition protests were designed to stall contentious issues like delimitation, emphasizing that their demands regarding violence, paper leaks, and corruption remain clear and uncompromising.
