The month-long Aashada maasam Saare offering festival at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri concluded on Wednesday amid religious fervour and a festive atmosphere. Temple staff and their families participated in the concluding ceremony and offered the final Saare to Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga, whom devotees traditionally regard as a member of their household. The concluding ceremony coincided with Ashada Bahula Amavasya, the last day of the Aashada month.
Special rituals were performed at Jammidoddi at 9 a.m. under the supervision of temple Sthanacharya V. Siva Prasad. The Saare offerings were later taken in a procession to the temple amid Mangala Vadyams, Kolatam performances and traditional music. The procession passed through Kanaka Durga Nagar before reaching the temple premises. Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik and his wife, along with Temple Trust Board chairman Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi), offered the concluding Saare on behalf of the temple staff.
Silk clothes, auspicious articles, fruits, food offerings and other Saare items were presented to the Goddess on the sixth floor of the Maha Mandapam. A large number of women devotees and spiritual seekers from different parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana visited Indrakeeladri on the occasion. Devotees offered Saare to the Goddess, while temple priests performed a special mass blessing ceremony and distributed prasadam free of cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Seena Naik and Mr. Radhakrishna said the successful conduct of the month-long festival was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the temple staff. They said the Saare offering on the concluding day was a sacred and auspicious event.
