Bapatla District Collector Vinod Kumar has urged journalists to give greater prominence to developmental journalism and credible success stories, while avoiding sensationalism and verifying information before disseminating it through digital platforms. He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day PIB Vartalap media outreach workshop organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Vijayawada Regional Office, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in Bapatla on Wednesday.
PIB Vijayawada Director G. Suresh Kumar, IIS, said the PIB served as a link between the government and journalists by providing authentic and timely information on policies, welfare schemes and development programmes. ANU Journalism Professor G.
Anita spoke on effective communication and ethical values in journalism. Lead District Manager K. Siva Krishna and officials from Central and State government departments participated.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session on government schemes and development initiatives.
