The Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) on Wednesday conducted its orientation programme for newly admitted postgraduate (PG) and doctoral (PhD) scholars. Reflecting high academic demand and institutional prestige, the institute recorded complete seat utilisation across all PG and PhD disciplines, with more than 900 students joining the campus this session. Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director of the CSIR- Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, was the chief guest.
Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT-C, presided over the inaugural function. Addressing the incoming batch, Dr. Anandharamakrishnan emphasised the critical role of cutting-edge research, technology development, and innovation in driving national growth. He highlighted the CSIR’s ongoing scientific contributions to both national priorities and global technological advancements, encouraging students to align their research pursuits with societal needs and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Presiding over the function, Prof. Prasad Krishna urged scholars to look beyond conventional career paths and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. He called upon the vibrant research community to act as catalysts for innovation and technology-led solutions to support the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). Prof. A.V. Babu, Dean (Academic), outlined the academic rigour, research ecosystem, and institutional values at the NIT-C.
