District Collector G. Rajakumari inspected the ongoing construction of the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at the Government General Hospital on Wednesday and directed the officials to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards. Speaking to the media, Ms. Rajakumari said that construction of the first floor had been completed, while work on the second floor was progressing.
“Once operational, the CCU will prove beneficial to emergency and critical care services for seriously ill patients,” she said, adding that hospital authorities had been directed to take steps to make all operation theatres available at the hospital. The Collector said that the hospital’s water shortage issue had been addressed with a new sump, and water supply was now being maintained in all wards.
She further reviewed food services for the patients, highlighting quality monitoring. “High-protein diets are being provided to patients in the gynaecology ward, while other patients receive regular diets. Surprise inspections will continue,” she
said. Rajakumari also called for strengthening the hospital help desk to guide patients regarding departments and services, directing that all eligible patients be informed about free treatment under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme.
