Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) leader Maulana Farooq Kashmiri has issued a defiant message to his supporters ahead of a planned mission to Rawalakot, declaring that there would be “no stepping back" and calling on people to remain steadfast in what he described as a defence of their homeland.

“There is no stepping back. We will die, bodies will fall, but we will defend our homeland," Kashmiri said in an address to supporters. Urging his followers to maintain their faith and resolve, Kashmiri said, “Strengthen your faith and belief. You will return as victors from Rawalakot." Kashmiri also claimed that public mobilisation could force powerful institutions to yield, saying, “These powers will kneel down, they will bow their heads, and they will be compelled." He invoked previous episodes of unrest and loss to reinforce his call for resistance. Referring to the death of Imtiaz Shah, he said that even when Shah’s body was brought before the Chief Minister’s House, large funeral processions took place and people continued to endure injuries and hardships.

“If anyone is under the delusion that they can beat us and chase us away," Kashmiri said, referring to those events, “they should remember the sacrifices and resistance witnessed at that time." Kashmiri also cited Turkey’s failed 2016 coup attempt as an example of what he described as the power of mass public resistance. He said that when the Turkish military attempted to overthrow then-President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, people came out in support of the government. According to Kashmiri, the Turkish military subsequently withdrew and was unable to regain its position. “In the face of the public’s power, no force in the world can work," he said. His remarks come amid heightened political mobilisation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with Kashmiri seeking to rally supporters around the Rawalakot mission and portraying the confrontation as a test of public resolve.
