Across multiple Indian states, students and young people took to the streets on International Youth Day to demand basic rights and improved infrastructure. In Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur, students marched to the collectorate carrying the national flag, demanding a paved road to their school to avoid walking through mud during the monsoon. In Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, school students approached state authorities requesting a proper road and a bridge to ensure safe daily travel to their school.
Meanwhile, in Dehradun, a young taekwondo player from a local girls school sought financial assistance after being selected for an international championship in Romania, citing funding hurdles for her travel expenses. Additionally, school students in another area protested against a bus fare hike, urging local representatives to roll back the increase. In response to these widespread protests by school children, a campaign titled 'School Thik Karo' was announced to focus on improving government schools in rural areas and ensuring basic amenities for children.
