Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar. The Karnataka government has finally allocated portfolios to the new Cabinet, with Chief Minister D K Shivakumar retaining several key departments, including Finance, Cabinet affairs and Intelligence. The portfolio distribution covers 23 ministers, with responsibilities ranging from education and welfare to irrigation, agriculture, municipal administration and planning. Shivakumar Gets Key Departments Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has been assigned Finance, Cabinet affairs, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, Law, Justice and Human Rights.
He will also handle Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation, Agriculture Marketing, the Commissionerate of Town & Country Planning, and all urban local bodies falling under the BDA and BMRDA areas. All unallotted portfolios will also remain with the Chief Minister. B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan has been given the Housing portfolio, while Ramalinga Reddy will handle Forest, Ecology and Environment. Lakshman Savadi has been assigned Co-operation, excluding Agriculture Marketing. Rudrappa Manappa Lamani will look after Sugar and Textiles, while K.H. Muniyappa has been given Social Welfare. Welfare And Health Portfolios Allocated Shivraj Tangadagi has been assigned Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture. U.T. Khader will handle Minority Welfare, Haj & Wakf, and Health and Family Welfare. T. Raghumurthy has been given ST Welfare, while Dr Ajay Singh will handle Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology. Cheluvarayaswamy has been assigned Major and Medium Irrigation.
Madhu Bangarappa will look after Primary and Secondary Education, while Basavaraj Raya Reddy has been given Higher Education. Industries, Labour And Agriculture Shivalinge Gowda has been assigned Excise from the Finance Department. Puttaranga Shetty will handle Animal Husbandry and Sericulture, while Vijayananda Kashappanavar has been given Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises. Santhosh Lad will handle Labour and Employment. K.S. Basvanthappa has been assigned Muzrai, Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water. S.S. Mallikarjun will look after Mines and Geology and Horticulture. Food, Municipal Administration And Planning Rizwan Arshad has been given Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs. Narendra Swamy will handle Agriculture, while H.C. Balakrishna has been assigned Municipal Administration. B. Nagendra will look after Planning and Statistics. With the allocation, all 23 ministers listed in the new Cabinet have now been assigned their respective portfolios. The distribution places several major departments, including Finance, Law, Intelligence, Information, personnel administration and town planning, with Chief Minister Shivakumar.
