Reuters reported, that only eight vessels were tracked passing through the strait on Tuesday, compared with a pre-war average of around 130 to 140 vessels a day. LSEG recorded 11 transits, down from 14 the previous day.

The International Maritime Organization has also recorded dozens of confirmed maritime incidents in the region. As of August 11, the IMO listed 65 confirmed incidents and 17 seafarer fatalities linked to the wider Middle East maritime crisis. Iran Links Reopening To US Concessions The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global shipping route, carrying a significant share of the world’s oil and gas supplies. Any prolonged disruption in the waterway could affect energy markets, shipping costs and fuel prices, making the standoff between the US and Iran a major concern for global trade. Iran has said it will keep the Strait of Hormuz closed unless Washington meets its conditions, including demands related to the war and frozen Iranian assets. Meanwhile, Trump has introduced another condition of his own, demanding compensation from Iran for deaths and injuries that he attributes to Tehran and its actions over past decades.
