A Redditor now says that his wife, who works at an Indian tech company, applied for vacation over 45 days ago, but her manager is refusing to accept it. The Redditor, who goes by the handle Historical_day_364, shared a post on the subreddit DevelopersIndia. “My wife works for a WITCH-level IT company, and we’re planning to go on vacation about 1.5 months from now,” he wrote. Read Full Story The techie clarified that despite asking for the leave weeks in advance, his wife’s manager was saying no. “She informed her manager/lead well in advance, which I feel is more than reasonable notice.
However, her manager is saying he can’t approve the leave and is asking her to delay it by 2–3 days,” he added. He explained that delaying the trip would be an issue, since everything had already been arranged for the vacation. His wife, he says, had been at the company for over five years and had sufficient leave balance. “The work she handles isn’t business-critical and can easily wait for a few days, "he said. “She has also assured the team that she can be reachable on Slack/WhatsApp in case something genuinely critical comes up.” But despite these assurances and an intern who could “manage basic work”, the manager was not budging.

He asked Redditors whether his wife should confront the manager and “explain that the dates are already booked” or whether it was time to escalate the matter to HR. Under the post, many sympathised with the couple. One user claimed that the techie’s wife should not have mentioned the vacation. “Most managers are living corpses who just want everyone to suffer like they are suffering. I always say that I have some work to finish in my home town related to property or related to some funeral," they said.
