IIT graduate from Kadapa cleared 13 Central government jobs, chose the ESIC

His penchant for writing competitive examinations brought this M.Tech graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur a âbasket full of Central government jobsâ. He, however, opted to join the Employeesâ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and is posted as the branch manager at Mahabubnagar in Telangana. Lomada Nagendra Sai completed his SSC in his home town, Kadapa, studied Intermediate at Hyderabad and joined IIT Kharagpur for an integrated B.Tech-M.Tech in the industrial and systems engineering stream. Like everyone else, he opted for the usual route of campus placements, but jobs remained a distant dream when COVID-19 struck, rendering many IT professionals jobless.
He then eyed the government sector and started preparing for competitive examinations. His father, L. Aswani Kumar, retired in 2018 as the personnel manager at APSRTC Anantapur, and his mother is a teacher at the Zilla Parishad High School, Pendlimarri, in Kadapa district, which deepened his inclination towards government service. He began his preparation in June 2022 and underwent training at a Hyderabad-based institute. After clearing the SSC prelims, he hit a roadblock, failing in the mains. Undaunted by the setback, he resumed preparation and finally reached the goal.
âIn the last three years, I wrote more than thirty examinations for varied jobs in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), besides in the Indian Navy, AIIMS, Indian Railways, Indian Coast Guard and so on,â Mr. Nagendra Sai told The Hindu. He was finally selected for 13 positions in Central government service, from which he chose the ESIC job. He joined as the branch manager in Mahabubnagar in February 2026. Though he had initially chosen the software sector, he preferred service to society and peace of mind to the higher pay of the IT sector.
Nagendra Sai was felicitated at a public event in Kadapa recently, where he was described as a symbol of perseverance. He appealed to the youth to look beyond the obvious campus placement route and consider the scores of government jobs available to them.
