Houthis Blow Up Saudi Ship In Red Sea Terror: 1st Deadly Attack Since Iran War| Bab Al Mandeb Tense Six people were killed and 10 injured after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels struck a cargo ship in the Red Sea with three ballistic missiles, setting the vessel on fire. Four crew members, including three Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian, were killed in the initial strike, while another missile reportedly hit rescuers attempting to evacuate those aboard.
The Houthis claimed the vessel was carrying Saudi military equipment, while Yemen’s internationally recognised government said it was carrying food and condemned the attack as a major escalation. The strike marks the Houthis’ first deadly attack on a vessel since the Iran war began and comes amid rising tensions following the collapse of a years-long truce in Yemen. The attack is also likely to intensify concerns over commercial shipping through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital global trade route already facing heightened security risks.
