Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised former President Ram Nath Kovind’s life journey, describing his rise from a humble background in Kanpur Dehat to the highest constitutional office in the country as an inspiration for India’s youth. PM Modi, speaking at the launch of Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, congratulated the former President on his book and praised its title as “very apt".
Recalling Ram Nath Kovind’s early life, PM Modi said he was born into an ordinary family in Kanpur Dehat and lost his mother at a very young age. “Just see the life of Kovind ji. He was born in a very ordinary [family] in Kanpur Dehat. He lost his mother at a very young age," PM Modi said. “Anyone can break from such trauma, but Kovind ji became stronger," he added, while highlighting the role played by Ram Nath Kovind’s father in shaping his life. PM Modi also spoke about Ram Nath Kovind’s personality after reaching the highest office in the country, saying that he remained grounded despite becoming the President of India.
“Kovind ji had been in a position like President of such a huge country and still he has been very grounded," PM Modi said. The Prime Minister said Ram Nath Kovind’s journey and experiences could serve as an inspiration for young Indians. He said the autobiography would offer valuable lessons for the country’s youth. Ram Nath Kovind, who served as the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022, was born on October 1, 1945, in Paraunkh village in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. He studied commerce and law and went on to practise as a lawyer before entering public life. He served as a member of the Rajya Sabha and later as Governor of Bihar before being elected President in 2017.
