An MP/MLA court in Agra on Tuesday admitted the petition filed by advocate Rama Shankar Sharma and fixed August 21 for hearing the matter. In its petition, the advocate said that Ranaut had insulted students protesting over the paper leak issue and had also made objectionable remarks about their parents.He said that the case concerns the future of the country’s students and alleged that Ranaut had insulted both the protesters and their parents.

He said that the petition was filed in connection with the alleged remarks and has been admitted by the court. Sharma said that if the petition is dismissed by the Agra court, he would approach the sessions court. “I have filed a suit against BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut in the Special Court for MPs/MLAs. The suit concerns Kangana Ranaut referring to students protesting at Jantar Mantar as the ‘gutter generation’… She has a habit of making such remarks. In a series of Instagram posts, she accused some young women participating in the demonstrations of seeking independence without accountability. She also criticised the language, slogans and social media content associated with the protests, calling some of the videos and Instagram reels “puke-inducing". Ranaut had specifically targeted young women involved in the protests, arguing that genuine independence required financial and personal responsibility. She alleged that many young women involved in the protests “proudly flaunt" drug use, alcohol consumption and “endless body counts" while continuing to depend on their parents financially. Calling them “Generation Gutter", Ranaut said that such women were “not good at studies" and “can’t be homemakers either", adding that “an independent life needs to be earned." “I call them Generation Gutter. Some of them have nothing to offer to the system. They are not good at studies but they are so ugly and corrupt that they can’t be homemakers either, but they proudly flaunt their freedom to have drugs, drinks or endless body counts and shamelessly live off their parents’ earnings and constantly fight to live independent lives without actually being independent," she added.
