(X) Mumbai Building Fire: In a tragic incident, a two and a half-year-old child and a 23-year-old woman died and four others got injured after a massive fire broke out on the 11th floor of a residential building in Mumbaiās Vile Parle (West) on Tuesday night, officials said. As per the officials, the fire broke out at around 10.08 pm in Flat Nos. 1101 and 1102 on the 11th floor of a stilt-plus-11-storey building on Baptista Road. The blaze was confined to electrical wiring and installations, an AC unit and household articlesover an area of around 4,000 square feet. After receiving information about the incident, 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and began efforts to bring the fire under control. No injuries have been reported so far. Firefighting and rescue operations continued for nearly three hours, with the fire being extinguished around 1 am. Eight people were injured in the incident out of which two were admitted at Cooper Hospital and six were admitted at Nanavati Hospital. According to Nanavati Hospital authorities, six injured people were brought to the hospital, of whom two were declared brought dead. The deceased were identified as Abir, 2.5, and Ankita, 23. The four others taken to Nanavati Hospital were identified as Parth, 32, Hiren, 64, Yashasvi, 33, and Abhishek. All four were reported to be stable, with Yashasvi and Abhishek later treated and discharged. Two more injured persons were taken to Cooper Hospital. They were identified as fireman Manoj Sonavane, 30, who was treated and discharged, and Shivam Dwivedi, 29, who suffered minor injuries and was also discharged.
Fire brigade personnel rescued people trapped on the 11th floor amid heavy smoke. The fire officials said that after the blaze broke out the residents got trapped in the 11th floor of the building from where they were rescued and pulled out by the MFB officials. āThe fire broke out on the 11th floor of the building. It has been brought under control. Eight fire tenders are at the sceneā¦ the situation is currently under control, and cooling operations are underway.
