Under the banner of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, the protesters also said they had decided to intensify the movement and would announce the next steps soon. The announcement came on the 18th day of the protest, after students and job aspirants took out a silent procession in Ranchi on Tuesday evening. The organisation said it remained open to talks with the government, but added that it had not received any positive response after Monday's protest, in which it claimed more than 50,000 students from across the state had participated.
Read Full Story At a press conference, JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch leader Ravindra Paswan said, "We hoped the state government would come out with some positive message for the students after Monday's protest, in which over 50,000 students from across the state participated." He added, "But we did not get any positive output from the government. So, we have decided to continue our agitation at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium till all our demands are met." Another leader, Piyush Kumar, said the protesters had now decided to step up the agitation. "We will soon announce the details of the future course of action of the protest," he said.
Kumar also said they were always open to dialogue with the government to resolve the issue. Members of the organisation also criticised the alleged police lathi-charge, firing of tear gas shells and use of water canons during their march to the assembly on Monday. Earlier on Tuesday evening, students under the Manch's banner held a silent procession from Jaipal Singh Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk to protest the alleged irregularities in recruitment exams. The students and job aspirants have been protesting since July 25, demanding transparency in recruitment examinations, reforms in the functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, cancellation of several examinations, and an independent investigation by the CBI or a panel of retired high court judges from outside the state.
Six demonstrators are also on an indefinite hunger strike to press the demands, and two of them have been hospitalised. With the protest now in its 18th day, the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch has said the agitation will continue at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium until its demands are met, while details of an intensified protest are expected to be announced soon.
