Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi following discussions with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman regarding Sheikh Hasina's extradition and the Shahid Osman Adi murder case. The Ministry of External Affairs stated the extradition request is being examined per established processes, while expert Geeta Mohan noted the consultations precede the mid-September BRICS Summit hosted by India. In Bengaluru, a 40-year-old man, S.G. Imran, allegedly strangled his two daughters, aged 5 and 10, inside a hotel room before attempting suicide by slitting his throat.
Police recovered a note citing a marital dispute and suspicions of an extramarital affair. Imran survived and is undergoing medical treatment. Discussion panelist Yashvardhan Azad highlighted the lack of child safety nets during domestic disputes, while child justice lawyer Anant Kumar Asthana emphasized the reality of natal family violence and urged legal reforms. Women's rights activist Vrinda Adige and psychiatrist Dr. Sandip Vohra further addressed systemic failures in prioritizing the best interests of children caught in severe marital discord.
