'Implement 33% Women's Quota In 2029', Vijay Urges Centre To Maintain Existing Seats | Delimitation

A resolution on delimitation will be tabled in the state assembly, urging the union government to permanently maintain existing parliamentary seats and implement thirty-three percent women reservation in the 2029 elections. The motion follows a meeting of state parliamentarians where key opposition political parties did not participate. Political parties maintain that delimitation should be based on the 1971 census, keeping the Lok Sabha seat count frozen at 543 and maintaining the Lok Sabha to Rajya Sabha representation ratio at two point two to one.
Advocates argue this allocation ensures that states successfully implementing population control measures do not face harm or loss of political weight.
