Captain Sam Thomas, President of the Airline Pilots Association of India, emphasized separating technical failures from substance abuse, stating, 'There is very clear evidence that there has been a technical issue, multiple failures on the hydraulic front'.
Addressing the zero-tolerance policy on drugs, Captain C.S. Randhawa, President of the Federation of Indian Pilots, remarked, 'There's no question that a pilot should be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs and enter the cockpit'. Aviation safety expert Mirza Faizan highlighted systemic oversights, arguing that aerospace incidents stem from a chain of failures rather than a single individual. The panellists unanimously called for stricter regulatory oversight, comprehensive drug testing, and structural reforms within the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to ensure passenger safety.
